Bonsoir tout le monde. Hoping everyone had a spectacular week! Gosh, I just love this time of year - everything starting to come into full bloom, the days getting longer, nice warm, sunny days. Glorious. Just glorious! Hubby cut some just-coming-into-bloom-lilacs and don't know about you fine folks, but for me, heaven smells like lilacs. Just sayin'. Long weekend in Canada this weekend - yeah! Opening up the cottages, planting the gardens, firing up the barbecues, party time! Yippee!! The big weekend in the US is next weekend - Memorial Day - where here in NJ, folks head down in droves and droves to The Shore; yup, the one and only Shore. Yours Truly aka Cancerella and Her Mate - Schifoman - will be heading to Our Home and Native Land to hang out with friends and family and partake of yummy feasts and rather vast quantities of beverages with an alcohol content, as it will be a while before we can travel, what with The Double Feature commencing shortly for The Girl Who Wishes She Had a Tattoo on Her Head (The Nuke Fest + The God I Really Hope I Don't Puke Fest).
I expect to get the Big Fat Chemo pills in the mail shortly from The Special Big C Chemo Pharmacy. No popping down to the neighbourhood drugstore for those babies. Then I'll call the Nuke Hospital - handily located within stumbling distance of the house - really, I can see The Hospital from our kitchen window - very handy, especially when the power goes out as we are on the hospital power grid so our lights and heat or air conditioning and phone (yes, we still have a land line - how delightfully archaic right?) always comes on before anyone else - yes, I am indeed wandering off again, so to speak! So there! Anyway, yes, I will call Dr Nuke and set up the Fun Fest for when Mon Amour et moi get back from Canuckistan. And then the fun and games and bald spots will begin! Yeah! :-)
So....the radiation and chemo lasts six weeks, then a four week break, then I start a second round of chemo for six months. Well, six months seems to be a magic number. I imagine you might be asking why? Well, yesterday in the mail, I received a letter from the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission (my driver's license pic is actually quite good - wanna see?) This letter stated (ahem, and I quote): "Dear Ms. You. As long as you stay seizure free for six months from May 24, 2013, then you can get in your sexy 2006 Chevy Aveo with the Betty Boop seat covers, Ms Boop floor pads and Flower Power steering wheel cover and drive yourself to Marshall's, to Target and ...oh yeah ...to work!" (cue up the music) HALLELUJAH ...HALLELUJAH ....HALLELUJAH ...HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!! Well, needless to say, this gal is freakin' over the moon! Yeeeeeeeee haw!!!! We were told it was one year - to receive a letter that it is six months is a VERY welcome surprise indeed! The countdown is ON! November 24 is D-Day. And a new holiday in our world. Driving Day! Yup ...and a perfect excuse for a double party - the end of two rather arduous experiences! Is there a better reason to get together with folks we love to celebrate those delightful endings? More importantly, though, it will give both mio marito and me all the more reason to celebrate the oncoming of the holiday season, and to celebrate life, friendship, family and love with the people that mean the most to us! Thank you LORDY LORDY LORDY! :-) Talk about a pleasant surprise indeed! Gosh, I love surprises and it is just another welcome and awesome example of that glass being half-full, right, and of focusing on keeping that glass half full....yeah!!!
So....as you might imagine, we were delighted to get some good news. And will focus on that as we approach the oncoming Fun Fest. Oh hey - here's a challenge for you fine, fun, creative types! How about a fun, irreverent name for the six-week Fun-o-Rama? The more irreverent and quirky, the better! Bring it on! :-)
And on that happy note, I am signing off for ce soir. Thanks - as always - for reading, for your comments, your support and love. I love you all a boatload, as does hubby and we are both so thankful to you all .....sending hugs and love your way.

I agree with the Grand Vizier of South Flatulence that this is, indeed, an ideal showcase for your unique voice!
ReplyDeleteAs for what to call your 6-month hiatus from the norm, how about one of these:
Slide, Slide, Slippity Slide Fantastic Voyage
Wet 'n' Wild, Long, Hot Summer
Judy's Jubilee
...or...
Gone Fishin'
...?...
You are hysterical!!! The Grand Vizier of South Flatulence!! I am going to get a t-shirt and a logo - it's perfect. :-)
DeleteYou know ... I love them all ... I really do ... and I will use them all, depending on my mood ... you are fantabulously creative and I heart you!!! Thank you for humoring me, Racherella!!! :-) MWAH!
